According to latest update, Portugal might not be a part of golden visa for the wealthy foreign investors. PM Antonio said this on 2 Nov 2022 " Portugal 10 year old golden visa Portugal program will be re-evaluate now by the government.
He also said that the people from NON-EU countries are raising up the price of rents and real estate properties. He remarked this program as "security risk".
As you are aware of Russia and Ukraine war, Britain has already scrapped UK olden visas for the investors due to inflow of illicit Russian money. Similarly the Portuguese government allowed 11, 180 Portugal citizenship to the businesses and innovators in exchange of around €6.5 billion investments last year.
The Portugal PM said the the country will try new method "digital nomad visa" to attract foreigners invest in the economy of Portugal. He also added that the Portugal should be a free country for everyone come and invest and expand their business. From 30 October 2023, the people can apply for Portugal digital Nomad Visa through which the investors can live, work and expand business in the country for up to 12 months.
Requirements for Portugal Passport:
- Are from a country outside the EU or EEA
- Are self-employed or employed by a company based outside Portugal
- Earn at least four times the Portuguese minimum wage a month (around €2,800)
